Universal
Haibun
Staring at the first images of the James Webb Space Telescope, my mind wonders. I think about all those distant galaxies, their color, their form, and all the things about them we cannot even see. I wonder how big they are in comparison to ours, and how many planets they might have. I consider the possibility of life existing on some of those planets. What would they be like? I think about how long it had taken for the light to travel from those galaxies to the telescope. I think about the space between all the galaxies. Blackness in the absence of light. Space and time. The images are but a mere speck in our view of the night’s sky. I ponder the vastness of the universe. I ponder life.
